just been scouring the net looking for tactics for this boss, and found a good forumpost with lots of advice for healers:

http://www.mmo-champion.com/raids-dungeons/valithria-dreamwalker-what-are-they-doing-wrong/15/

a good post..

"The fight is all about having your dreamwalker gain enough stacks of the buff. I'm currently the one that does this for our 10 and 25 man fights. Here is what I do:

As soon as she drops here portal spots, I run to the nearest one. While there, I continue to heal the dragon while mouse clicking the portal spot, so as soon as the portal becomes active I enter it. Since the dragon inside is a different mob, any casts occurring will cancel immediately.

Upon entering, I immediately jump and head straight up. There will always be a cloud directly above the portal, and the whole trick to the encounter is being able to hit a cloud as soon as you can upon entering. Once I get that first cloud as quickly as possible, I start to go around the room collecting clouds.

The trick to collecting clouds is two-fold. 1, only the small bright dot of the cloud actually counts, so you are trying to hit that small object and 2, since there is server lag, I often stop until the cloud explodes. I might lose a second or 2, but better that then missing the cloud.

I continue to get clouds until 5 seconds remain in the dreamstate, then I find my last cloud and try to hit it with 1 or 2 seconds remaining in the dreamstate. The buff lasts for 35 seconds and the portals pop every 25 seconds, so if done correctly, you have a 5 second window on each side. Since the client always experiences some server lag, this window is often as small as 2 or 3 seconds. If you can get the last ball in the last second or 2, you will have 8 or 9 seconds when the portal pops to gain the buff and restart the stack timer.

TLDR version:
Click the portals as soon as they pop.
Try to get the first cloud of every portal as quickly as possible (there is always one above the portal)
Pause a second on the bright dot of the cloud
Try to get the last cloud in the last second or 2 of the dreamstate"

Sounds like a reasonable plan. One thing to not on this fight - if it's not cleared by 7 mins in we're unlikely to do it at all.

aye - the good sign tho i guess is that on a couple of our tries we managed to deal with the adds until 7-7.5 mins, so we're pretty much getting the adds strat down... now it just rests on the healers ;-). next time we try him we should get our little healing friends to check out that forum

They make it sound so simple - but I found it really tricky. However, I am the first to admit that I am spatially challenged - to me moving around swimming/flying is really hard.

Thanks Pilk, nice link. :)

Was a bit puzzled Sunday looking at Recount. The last try for the evening I had 8,2k hps and 2600k healed in total (2300k on boss, since I needed to help with some raid healing in the end.) My orb-buffing wasn’t great, but still ok I think. At least for the first time there. Hence, I guess I would be able to do 3-3,5 million in a perfect swimming run, healing only the boss. That’s half of what’s needed… :(

Actually Pilk’s link made it a little more understandable. Except for swimming tactics, it seems like the main thing to change is to use two healers on the boss and one on tank and raid. I actually don’t know how people manage to heal the raid with one healer, but with better handling of adds and such, I guess it’s doable… Especially if we can do it in 5-6 min, instead of over 7 min, which some people on the forum apparently do.

Someone also said they used 4 healers, 1 tank, 5 dps and were done under 5 min. Another one said that they used heroism initially while all 3 healers spammed the boss.

Many possibilities to try tomorrow! :) (Or whenever we go again.)
Can’t join tonight’s raid, but cya in ICC tomorrow!

Btw… great fun that the healers are in the spotlight for once! :D
